Feros is a young collective run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers.

Feros

Feros as an invitation to connect ourselves to our fierceness, like férocité in french

Feros as an inspiration from feral animals, that go back to wildlife after being domesticated

Feros as a combination of Eros, for passionate love, and Fer, for the resistance of iron

Our team

Currently, the majority (but not all) of the people involved in our collective are white, able-bodied, from Northwestern Europe and most have a university level education.

There are different class backgrounds, neurotypes and levels of (dis)ability present in our collective and our group is balanced in terms of gender and sexual identities, with cis-hetero folks in the minority.

We are in the process of transitioning from a small informal group with centralised decision making to a less centralised collective, where as many decisions as possible are made by working groups. Currently we have three working groups: emotional resilience, inclusivity and self-defence. We always welcome extra help, especially if you have skills regarding facilitation, social media, bookkeeping, admin or logistics.

In time we hope to grow the diversity of our collective, without expecting communities that are currently underrepresented to adapt to our topics and ways of working. We regularly cooperate with (informal) collectives or freelance trainers in a way that tries to use our privileges to support the work of more marginalised communities. If you have a proposition for a collaboration or want to request our support, please contact us!

Youth volunteer program

We regularly host youth volunteers through the Belgian Bel-J programme (youth from Wallonia/Brussels) or the European Solidarity Corps programme (youth from EU countries).

These programmes offer a structured way for volunteers to immerse themselves in our team for a period of 2 – 12 months. The focus is on making the programme a quality learning experience for the young volunteers.

Work areas we offer at Feros include: administration – bookkeeping – fundraising – external communication – workshop logistics – cooking for groups – facilitation.

Feedback and accountability

Feedback
Feedback is encouraged, particularly through evaluations after training. General feedback can be emailed to info@feros.be.

We do not tone police and are not afraid of strong emotions, however an accountability process is suggested for deeper issues.

Accountability
Reports of harm can be sent to info@feros.be. Please mention the word accountability in the topic of your email. You can choose to either describe the situation in your email or ask for a face to face meeting.

Depending on the situation, we will either look internally for someone to facilitate an accountability meeting / process or we might ask colleagues from befriended collectives such as Tractie or Collectiv.a to take on this role.

Inclusivity

Feros is receptive to constructive feedback, aiming for accountability and recognising the ongoing work needed for inclusivity.
